Detroit is the automobile capital of the world. It's the birthplace of Motown music.
Detroit waterfront has many magnificent architectures. The Renaissance Center, home of the world headquarters of General Motors graces the skyline. GM offers an informative and interactive free tour which we took. The tour is about the building complex, the neighborhood and the automobile industries.
The Motown museum sits at the location where Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye saw their music careers soared. The museum is just two simple single family houses. However, the significance of the site to the music industry is beyond words.
Detroit does have some signs of depression. Downtown area has fewer pedestrians and traffic than the city's world class reputation would suggest. Abandoned buildings could still be seen.
